CityBeat’s Living Out Loud – Cincinnati Blog

{March 3, 2007}   Goodbye CincyNation

cincinnati-nation.gif

For thousands of us here in the Cincinnati area, Monday will be a sad day as the CincyNation News web site, after eight years of being an on-line publication, will close up shop.

CincyNation is owned by USNationNet and this closing will not affect the other 238 sites which are owned by Richard Hines.

CincyNation had an edge to it and an attitude that I always liked and this blog owes Richard Hines a big thank you. He took a liking to our little old LOL Blog almost from the start and added us to the CincyNation blogroll and featured a lot of our posts on the web site. Thanks to Richard Hines, many more people have found out about what we do here and our readership has grown. I will always be grateful to him for this.

Mr. Hines, you are a class act. You’ll be missed here by many.

Larry Gross

Matt says:

This news sucks.

Marilyn says:

Damn! CincyNation, I hardly knew ye…

Julie says:

This is indeed sad news. CincyNation was my source for Cincinnati news and I used it as a replacement for the Enquirer. Now what?

Rally says:

Its “attitude” was pretty much to slam Cincinnati.

Sound familiar, Larry?

Julie says:

Rally, you’re full of bullshit. CincyNation always made a point of stating how we’re screwed up (and screwed up we are), but also pointed out some of the good things. It was balanced and that’s why I made it a habit. Your statement shows you never really read it.

Ted says:

I could never get in the habit of reading it.

Chuck says:

I think “Hinessight” is also run by Richard Hines. It very much has that same flavor – sort of a bite, you know? At least we’ll still have that.

Phil says:

This is a shame. I think web sites who are liberal have a hard time here in conversative Cincy. We don’t like anything that’s a little different.

hard as nails says:

now we can get all of our online cincinnati news from brian griffin. how exciting.

Roger says:

Come on. It was nothing more than a copy & paste web site.

Karen says:

😦

Maria says:

It’s a little more that cut and paste. The site went to various publications daily and put up the most interesting ones. I’m going to miss it

Bill says:

I liked the Cincinnati Nation a lot and yes, I liked it’s attitude. We have nothing else like it here. Why don’t different approaches work in this city?

Jackie says:

The fuckin’ Enquirer probably ran them out of business. They want to control all the news. I’m surprised CityBeat is still around.

Richard says:

Hines has sites like CincyNation all over the country and they work in other cities. How come not here? Because we are a backward city. I’m sad to see it go but not really surprised.

Connie says:

It was a daily habit of mine that I’m gonna miss. Nothing good lasts here.

TNT says:

Good publications fail in Cincinnati but the Enquirer presses on. What’s wrong with this picture?

Barbara says:

I have the same complaint about CincyNation that I have here: Both sites focus on the negative too much. If you want to survive here in Cincinnati, you need to find positive things to day.

Tate says:

CincyNation had an edge to it and an attitude that I always liked

You can’t have attitude here. You need to be boring.

hard as nails says:

If you want to survive here in Cincinnati, you need to find positive things to day.

i’m forty years old and i’ve survived here for awhile and i’m trying to think of something positive to say about cincinnati and the only thing i can come up with is i haven’t been murdered yet.

D.K. says:

I was a religious reader of CincyNation. No one is more disappointed to see it reach the end of its run. I’ll miss the smartness of this site.

This is great to hear. Now Cincinnatians won’t have to endure Rick Hines snide remarks about this great city. He was just a bitter former resident that could never move past whatever issues he had with this place. We live in a great city, maybe it takes an outsider like myself to convince many of the locals. I run into many transplants to the region that are in the same boat as me and absolutely love this city.

There is a new website that some of us just started up called http://cinplify.com. This website is a community news aggregator that is designed for users to submit news stories, event postings, photos & videos from around Cincinnati and the community votes on the stories they enjoy, find interesting or just want others to read. The votes move the stories to the front page and to the top of the list as they become more popular. When a link is submitted, it is put into the unpublished queue until it is voted upon.

With cinplify.com you can RSS individual users submitted stories, say if you like a certain submitters articles, you can even leave comments about a story or add a user to your buddy list to private message someone.

At this time the site is in “beta” so if you encounter any problems let us know.

So come give http://cinplify.com a try and you will never know what you missed with a sub par one sided website like CincyNation.

Theresa says:

You have had The Cincinnati Nation on your blogroll since you first started this up and I got in the habit of reading it because it covered Cincinnati news as well as national news.

It was hip and smart. Now, it’s going away.

I have to live here because of my job but that will change at some point along the line and I can’t wait until that happens. Cincinnati can’t embrace anything that is new and progressive like CincyNation, but other cities can. I need to move to one of those other cities.

Cincinnati is a wasteland and I can’t wait to get out of here.

Clarence hall says:

You always pointed out the short commings of Cincinnati news outlets . Now you quit! Bull shit!!

Gregory Flannery says:

Say it isn’t so! I met Rick Hines in 1972, when he was on the staff of the local McGovern for President campaign, helping fight an unjust war. His work on Cincinnati Nation has been groundbreaking. It’s our loss.

Brian Ciesko says:

Let me guess, “Sinsinnati” – you’re in marketing and you live in the suburbs, way outside the city limits. Maybe you work downtown, but you get in your car in the ‘burbs, come down for 8 hours, and go back to your home bubble.
Having lived here for 39 years, I think there’s a lot of great things about Cincinnati too – the beautiful hills, parks and landscapes, Music Hall and the CSO, Bogart’s, the Zoo.
But there’s also a racist atmosphere that runs both ways {e.g. Karen @’s recent post}, an overzealous police force and a city council that hands out taxbreaks and parcels of land under threat of corporate threats of abandoning the city while one small business after another dies with no lifelines even being offered. There are reasons why downtown is a wasteland after 6pm and all weekend long and those things need to be pointed out.
But if you live in the safe bubble of suburbia these things don’t touch you and you don’t have to look at them. Some of us do and if we want to raise hell about them that is our right, hell, even our duty as citizens. I don’t know where the hell you get off on your “outsider” high-horse as needing to convince us of the good points of Cincinnati. But good luck with your marketing tool status and spreading your genes in the same family pool. You’ll fit right in with that part of our populace; not all of us are like you though.

Wow Brian, looks like you have a lot of anger inside of you. By outsider, I was refering to moving to Cincinnati 4 years ago. I have lived all over the country and think Cincinnati is a great city (not perfect) and find many transplants that feel the same way as I do. It is usually the native that has traveled little in their life that does nothing but complain about the city.

Maybe you need to go join Rick Hines in Atlanta if you are so unhappy here else why don’t you step up and help make it a better place instead of bitching for the sake of it.

Chi-Town says:

Oh Sinsinnati, lover of all things Cincy..
I understand where Brian and some of the others are coming from. Too bad you want “happy news” instead of acknowledging the problems of the region. I was a transplant and lived in Cincy for four years..four years too many. There’s a lot of problems to be resolved, but the blinders have to be removed first. Aren’t you embarrassed by all the restaurants and venues leaving downtown and the general lack of renovation and excitement?

Obviously, you like things just the way they are. Hey folks, don’t be looking over there at the crash, just drive over here to my website and forget all that negative stuff!

I’m really going to miss Cincy Nation and all the good links to other websites. It was an intelligent alternative to that rag, The Enquirer.

Tim says:

“So come give cinplify.com a try and you will never know what you missed with a sub par one sided website like CincyNation.”

You have the nerve to call CincyNation sub par? What do you think your site is? Once I finally got the thing open, all I see is crap I’ve read other places. It’s boring.

Karen says:

Sinsinnati,
You don’t get any points with me by running down somebody else’s web site. I took a look at your site and it’s nothing special.

Patrica says:

I found the LOL Blog because of CincyNation which I always read daily. Cincinnati won’t be the same without it.

Mouse says:

So Sinsinnati, if you’re so proud of your site, where’s your name? Who are you? Reveal yourself.

hard as nails says:

my guess is sinsinnati lives in montgomery or hyde park.

Dan says:

I hate the fact that the Cincinnati Nation is closing down. Am I going to have to go back to reading the fucking Enquirer?

Kim says:

I love CincyNation. I always start my day with it, looking it over while drinking my coffee, checking the weather – all that. Is there anything we can do to not let this shut down?

Josh says:

This is horrible news! I lived in Cincinnati for 9 years, and am originally from Dayton. I live in Honolulu, Hi now and everday I love to check out what is happening back in Cincinnati. CincyNation was the website I visited most often. It is truly unfortunate that it will be shutting down. I want to know WHY it is shutting down. I have yet to see a reason behind the decision. I absolutely detest the Enquirer. I hate the fact that I will have to read that garbage of a newspaper to get my info. Today is a sad day!

hard as nails says:

I hate the fact that I will have to read that garbage of a newspaper to get my info.

rumor has it that brian griffen will be taking over cincynation just as soon as he finds a dictionary.

Janet says:

Josh,
Richard more or less said on this site this morning that Cincinnati is too small of a market to survive in. I agree with you. This is horrible news.

Tim Graves says:

It appears that The Cincinnati Nation is already no more. When I clicked on the site, up comes Richard’s national blog. In the left hand corner – in read – it says “Where’s CincyNation?” You click on it, and up comes the post written here yesterday.

Perhaps that’s fitting, you know? Richard Hines had no fear in stating what he thought was wrong with this city and neither does the editor here. Both Hines and Gross encourage debate and if any city needs that it’s Cincinnati.

I’ll miss CincyNation. I hope the LOL blog doesn’t go down the same path.

Matt says:

Yes, it already appears to be history. This is a shame, folks.

Jen says:

You know this “Hindsight” is actually pretty cool. Hey, at least we still have that, right?

Jack says:

What? What in the world? Why I’m I being directed here from the CincyNation web site? Is it really done with?

Nancy K says:

I am so sad that CincyNation is gone. Living outside of Cincinnati for the past 12 years this online magazine was my connection to home.

Yes, sometimes his remarks were ‘rough’ but I think in his own way he was trying to get the people in power to wake up. I live in the San Francisco bay area (yes it is a very liberal place to live) and realize there is life outside of Cincinnati.

I will eventually move back to Cincy because I have family members living there, but I dread it in some many ways. Yes, there are a lot of good things about the Cincinnati but the one thing I don’t know that I can live with is the conservative attitude.

Please reconsider Rick, we need your voice!

CincyNation.com was anything but fair and biased. The Enquirer and CincyNation do a great job of putting down the city.

I have no problem with reading truth about something that needs fixed, but do not report on a restaurant closing, yet leave out one that opens in it’s place.

“Aren’t you embarrassed by all the restaurants and venues leaving downtown and the general lack of renovation and excitement?” -Chi-Town

Where in the hell are you getting your news feeds?! … Oh, wait a minute … let me take a guess!

I guess you are referring to the 9 new restaurants/bars that are under construction downtown or have just opened. Where have you been?

To everyone bitching about living here … I say get the hell out and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. I don’t buy that shit about your job, your kids, your family. That’s BS, I know because I did the exact same thing, except I moved back to Cincinnati.

Mouse says:

Well, I remember Cincynation reporting on a lot of restaurant openings, as well as closings.

Cinynation stepped in and covered the bad with the good, and isn’t that what the media is supposed to do?

Now we got the Enquirer, a paper that very much prefers to hide the problems in the city. For example, I’m still waiting for their story on Fountain Square that the Dean broke a couple weeks ago.

John says:

What is up with the love fest for Cincy Nation? They didn’t report anything, they just linked to stories, except they usually twisted the headlines. Glad to see that site is no longer. Seems like some of the people on here liked it because they used it to justify their dislike for Cincinnati. Like the guy said above, if you don’t like it here, “SEE YOU LATER”. As for the poster above that linked to the other website, I don’t think he said the city is perfect. We know the city isn’t perfect. Cinplify looks user driven so it isn’t a matter of someone only posting negative news since it is a community driven site. I will have to play around with it. It reminds me of Digg but with a local flavor.

John says:

And to Mouse, I don’t know what publication you are reading but the Enquirer hardly covers up the bad. You have the right to complain about the Enquirer because it is a terrible paper but it isn’t a matter of covering up the bad as it is just a poor run newspaper that is slow to cover stories in the community.

The Enquirer looks for any chance they can to slam the city. I have to get my news from other sources about all the new developments that are being built around Cincinnati because you rarely ever read about them in the Enquirer.

Mouse says:

John, if you want something that just happy talk, then subscribe to the Chamber’s newsletter. There’s lots of good spin there.

I am going to jump to the conclusion that you’re the guy involved with LilyPad, the service that depends on corporate donations because it can’t operate a business on its own? Correct? Need corporate charity, right?

I’m going to step out on a limb here, but I am going to assume that LilyPad is relying on Corporate Sponsorship due to the fact that LilyPad may be … um, well FREE. Something many other cities (like Cleveland) are just now finding out as a draw for people on the go as well as YP’s®.

Nancy K says:

Wow, there is a lot of good debate on this blog. Those of you who didn’t like CincyNation obviously clicked through to the site, otherwise how would you know that it is gone.

So if you didn’t like the site why do you click through to it???

Mouse says:

Um, CinciConnection, has LilyPad ever considered maybe, um, having its own start page filled with independent advertisers rather than, um, corporate sponsors?

Has LilyPad ever considered having news content, perhaps a way to replace CincyNation, or to put all that goody, goody stuff about Cincinnati somewhere online?

Tim says:

“What is up with the love fest for Cincy Nation? They didn’t report anything, they just linked to stories, except they usually twisted the headlines. Glad to see that site is no longer.”

The beauty of CincyNation was Richard’s comments before the story and he was usually dead on right in what he was saying and if a lot of us didn’t like it, it wouldn’t have been along for eight years. I for one miss it.

Gabo says:

mmmta madre.. y yo que ya me habia acostumbrado a leer.. y eso que no soy de aqui. Estaba chido, en fin, a leer foxnews.com

Mouse, um, it sounds like you should be the one running a city-wide free WIFI network. When you get one up and running, why don’t you let us know! 😉

“Has LilyPad ever considered having news content, perhaps a way to replace CincyNation, or to put all that goody, goody stuff about Cincinnati somewhere online?” -Mouse

… And what was it about LilyPad that led you to believe that it is in the business of providing us news. I can’t seem to find any info about this on the site?

“The beauty of CincyNation was Richard’s comments before the story and he was usually dead on right in what he was saying and if a lot of us didn’t like it, it wouldn’t have been along for eight years. I for one miss it.” -Tim

With advertisers obviously still running on the site Richard was still making money … So after running for 8 yrs and then shutting down, why do you think it came to an end?

“Those of you who didn’t like CincyNation obviously clicked through to the site, otherwise how would you know that it is gone.

So if you didn’t like the site why do you click through to it???” -Nancy K

1. This is the internet, it’s easy to find out something has been shut down without actually visiting the site.

2. It’s not that we didn’t like the site before I visited it. This doesn’t make sense.

hard as nails says:

hey cinciconnection,
i see you operate a dating service. any chance of hooking me up with lol girl?

Taylor says:

Earth to Nancy K, this blog has been linked by Cincinnati Blog:

http://cincinnati.blogspot.com/2007/03/cincinanti-news-still-in-motion.html

Don’t flatter yourself, CincyNation was junk.

“hey cinciconnection,
i see you operate a dating service. any chance of hooking me up with lol girl?”

Well, that depends on you! 😉 There is a possibility …

Nancy K says:

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah….. You folks need to get a life.

In the long run…Who Cares. I sure Mr. Hines had his motives…As he said went he shut down his site he has many other websites. This one probably wasn’t making any money. You know the people in Cincinnati – Too conservative.

Time to move on….

Taylor says:

It had nothing to do with being too conservative. I am a liberal and think he was nothing more than a bitter jerkoff. This isn’t about Cincinnati failing, this is about Rick Hines failing. If he wasn’t such a twit, maybe his viewers would have clicked on his links. Instead, his site was like a train wreck, you came to see what he was going to say next but you didn’t support his site by clicking on his links so he could get paid.

Cincinnati isn’t as conservative you think. Maybe you need to get out more Nancy instead of repeating the same tired quote about Cincinnati being too conservative. I am not here to tell you it is bleeding liberal but get your head out your ass, you will see that the city leans left. For one, repealing the anti gay law was a sign that this isn’t your daddy’s city. Now the suburbs are a different story…

Carl says:

Here’s how I see it… I found links at CincyNation to stories that the Enquirer took 2-3 days to pirnt, if at all.

Cincinnati had an up-to-date, interesting, informative news site with CincyNation and the locals didn’t embrace it.

It did point out the problems in the city, as it should have. Not many other sites did it, with the exception of LOL and Beacon but that was only from time to time. It also noted the good things, moreso than the bad.

I found CincyNation well rounded, and will miss it.

Taylor says:

CincyNation didn’t report anything, he only linked to stories from the Enquirer, Post, Business Courier, Cincinnati Blog, Cincinnati Beacon, etc… It is amusing to read the comments on here. It was a website, that was tacked up with ads that apparently his devoted following didn’t even click on. The viewpoint was one sided, he didn’t offer a comments or feedback section and the site included nation news linked to common websites like CNN.com that didn’t even pertain to Cincinnati.

Carl says:

While I didn’t consider CincyNation a blog, isn’t true that most news blogs link to corporate media stories, most of the time?

CincyNation presented the news better than anyone else. Looking over the responses here, only 3-5 others at LOL agree with you. Again, CincyNation will be missed. I hope someone steps in to fill the void.

“While I didn’t consider CincyNation a blog, isn’t true that most news blogs link to corporate media stories, most of the time?

CincyNation presented the news better than anyone else. Looking over the responses here, only 3-5 others at LOL agree with you. Again, CincyNation will be missed. I hope someone steps in to fill the void.” -Carl

CincyNation was very one-sided … a bitter man that moved to ATL. His personal agenda showed in his stories and comments. That’s not news. If I only want to read the negative, then I’ll stick with the Enquirer.

Taylor, Nancy probably isn’t educated in Cincinnati’s current political system and doesn’t know that the city voted majority democrat in council members and city mayor -and voted for Kerry by over 60% … she probably is reading her news from … let’s say … http://www.CincyNation.com???

By the way, someone did fill in the void, it’s: http://www.Cinplify.com

Mouse says:

Wow, complaints about CincyNation’s editorial comments… from the same people who said the site was “cut & paste” !

Again , I liked how the stories were presented and there were plenty of blog-like comments each day. It wasn’t all cut & paste.

There was a certain style to it all. It flowed right. And, as far as the negative stuff…. it wasn’t a Chamber of Commerce site. It presented the good and the bad about Cincinnati.

If you want to take issue with negative news, look what WCPO, WLWT, and WKRC do day in and day out…. crime in Cincinnati, murders, rapes, and robberies.

Sharon says:

Rick Hines doesn’t live in Atlanta. He lives right here in Cincinnati in a house with a spectacular view of the Cincinnati skyline.
CinciConnection if you’re going to start a news site try to get your facts straight. Agreed, your criticism about going negative should be aimed at the local television stations for their daily doom and gloom reports.

Sharon, thanks for the update, but where in the hell did I say I wanted to start a news site? What the hell is wrong with you people!?

KTS says:

I think cincynation did more blogging than most of the blogsites here

Nancy K says:

CinciConnection what makes you such an expert. You seem to be a very opinionated person. What have you done for Cincinnati? Have you made a difference? Or do you like to just criticize people who don’t follow your beliefs? Sounds to me like you just like to sit at your computer and type instead of taking action.

By the way – I come to Cincinnati 2 to 3 times a year. I know what is going on. I know that Cincinnati has one of the highest murder rates in the country. I live close to Oakland CA which is a really bad area and Cincinnati rivals them in murders in one year.

Don’t get me wrong – I do love Cincinnati. I lived 37 years of my life there and will be coming back. After living out of the city of the past 12 years I realize that there is life outside of the Cincinnati. And my wish is that the powers to be would take a look at how other cities are run and learn.

Ok CinciCommection – Let me have it – The folks that are reading this blog need a good laugh. (And keep clean will ya – You sound like an old Cincinnatian)

Mouse says:

I’m still waiting for CinciConnection to identify himself He has a website with no background info on himself.

John says:

^ Why the hell are you people so determined to find out who people are? No one is dumb enough to exposure their personal accomplishments on here. And Nancy who are you to ask what we have done? What the hell have you done? You don’t even live here, you gather your opinions by the drive-by media and live in a far greater cesspool than Cincinnati. I have been to Oakland, it is a dump. San Francisco is a great city, but Oakland is no San Francisco.

Cincinnati’s murder rate is skewed. The city is only 78 sq miles. Cincinnati is safer than Indianapolis and Columbus when you you take a sampling of those cities within 78 sq miles yet those cities always get the positive press. Those cities created a unigov system where the county and city merged so the city boundaries are now over 400 sq miles. Both cities had more murders than Cincinnati and their murder rates were higher within the 78 sq miles sampling of their inner cities. The Enquirer doesn’t report this news, they merely just want to make you feel like you live in a war zone.

You are all bitter sheep. Why don’t you research a thing or two about how these numbers are gathered before you draw your own conclusions. I suggest you compare the cities 80 something murders with other cities and you will see that the number isn’t as high as you would think for a region the size of Cincinnati.

And Rick Hines doesn’t live in Cincinnati, his mommies house doesn’t count. He lives in Atlanta metro, perhaps you should get your facts straight before you dip him in bronze.

Nancy K says:

I didn’t say I lived in Oakland. I said I lived near Oakland.

And yes, Rick does live in Cincinnati and not at his mommy’s house. His corporate address is in Atlanta.

It doesn’t matter that the sq feet is less than other cities. Who cares? The fact is there are a lot of people murdered in cincy. Look at the poor guy who was shot on Halloween a couple of years ago….People can’t even open their door on Halloween.

I like how people think they are so smart because they can read addresses on websites. You don’t have a clue dude.

Rick leaves in Cincinnati and travels to Atlanta every couple of months. He also has a nice place in area. He used to live on Central until someone attacked him when he was walking to his place.

Years ago he had local papers for a long time until he decided to go to the internet. Rick has done a lot for Cincinnati because he loves the city. He was just trying to make it better. Again I ask you, what have you done.

You’re right I haven’t done much for Cincinnati since I don’t live there, and don’t pretend that I did.

Pepper says:

I did an online search on Richard Hines. Not much there but this….

“In an earlier post, I inaccurately attributed HinesSight, due to a confusion with a similarly named blog. The would-be “anti-Drudge” is the brainchild of Richard Hines of Cincinnati and Atlanta, who publishes several news aggregators and real estate sites, including cincynation.com and atlantanation.com.”

JSmith says:

My name is J and I am a webmaster with USNationNet…. You may have seen my name at the bottom of the old Cincinnati Nation website… I can tell you that Mr. Hines does live in Cincinnati and does commute to Atlanta on a frequent basis… He used to be an Atlanta resident but changed his residency to Cincinnati ….
BTW, thanks for all the good comments. I also miss Cincinnati Nation but it was Rick’s decision. Time to move on….

Nancy K says:

Hear Hear!

And to just clarify one thing. Rick lived in Cincinnati, moved to Atlanta, started his websites, and then moved back to Cincinnati because he does love the city.

He also takes care of our aging parents. Rick you are a good brother, I don’t care what the other people say ,they don’t know you like I do!!

Signing off…..

“CinciConnection what makes you such an expert. You seem to be a very opinionated person.”

I am.

“What have you done for Cincinnati? Have you made a difference?”

What have you done? I’m making a difference right now … by correcting your statements with facts.

“Or do you like to just criticize people who don’t follow your beliefs?”

This isn’t some sort of cult, the type of info, i.e. Cincinnati Politics, Murder Rates, etc. can be found by this wonderful site called … http://www.google.com … check it out!

“Sounds to me like you just like to sit at your computer and type instead of taking action.”

What action are you taking, assuming your are since you sound very pro-active.

“By the way – I come to Cincinnati 2 to 3 times a year. I know what is going on. I know that Cincinnati has one of the highest murder rates in the country. I live close to Oakland CA which is a really bad area and Cincinnati rivals them in murders in one year.”

It is amazing how someone that comes to a city “2-3 times a year” knows so much about what is going on.

“Don’t get me wrong – I do love Cincinnati. I lived 37 years of my life there and will be coming back.”

Why?

“After living out of the city of the past 12 years I realize that there is life outside of the Cincinnati. And my wish is that the powers to be would take a look at how other cities are run and learn.”

Learn what? Learn how to offer tax abatements and TIF Financing, to cause our downtown residential population to explode? Learn how to rezone a warehouse area like the one behind Target in Oakley to residential so that we can have Millworks, a 1.3 million sq ft. entertainment, residential, retail, office, etc. area, or is it the giving of land so that the Gregory family will build the 2 condo towers on the riverfront for a boost in downtown residents, or maybe it could be reverse in city population? Maybe the city actually growing now is a sign that things are not looking too up?

“Ok CinciCommection – Let me have it – The folks that are reading this blog need a good laugh. (And keep clean will ya – You sound like an old Cincinnatian)”

Let you have what? I am not trying to cause conflict or create some sort of animosity here … You are stating one thing, I am trying to back it up with facts.

“Look at the poor guy who was shot on Halloween a couple of years ago….People can’t even open their door on Halloween.”

This girl was 11 years old:

“But when she went outside to ride her bike, “She was confronted with complete and utter terror,” Brouhard said. “He fondled her, he raped her, he sexually violated her little body. When he was done, he sat on her legs, put his big hands on her neck and literally squeezed the life out of her.”
Jaquita died with her eyes open, the prosecutor said.”

Wow, you cooked my goose…

Ok, I really am signing off now. Have fun looking up all your facts!

Go Bengals!

Mouse says:

CinciConnection.com must be some kind of nutcase. So busy looking up everybody else’s business but still not revealing himself.

John says:

Yes because after all the name, “mouse” is so telling about who you are and what you have done for the city. The bottom line is that you all apparently looked at CincyNation for some sort of justification that the Queen City was a bad place to live. CincyNation resonated with you so much because many of you are bitter souls just like Rick Hines. To try and justify his headlines has “Tough Love” is laughable.

There and many internet blogs, internet news sites and message boards that do a far better job at covering the regions news or linking to corporate sites. CincyNation will not be missed.

Tim says:

John,
You’re all wet. Seriously, you’re all wet.

Hines reported on the good and Hines reported on the bad. That’s the way it needs to be in any town. He had a big following here for eight years and it was his own decision to stop and to pull out of this market. It’s our big loss.

Your comments are defensive and I don’t know why.

hard as nails says:

his site was like a train wreck

……oh, you must be talking about cincinnati blog. yes, i agree with that one.

Julie says:

I find the negative comments about Cincynation amusing, all the put downs.

Bottom line: It was groundbreaking here and that always brings along cry babies who can’t handle that and call it trash. The sites you support are the trash because you don’t understand anything that’s a little different.

I also see a lot of jealously here of Richard Hines who has over 200 other sites. That sort of tells me he knows what he’s doing.

The rest of you just keep crying.

jackula says:

richard hines rocked your city, you assholes. you just couldn’t handle the truth.

Taylor says:

A blog full of sheep…. baaaa

Matt says:

Taylor, you’re the sheep. Mike Hunt is looking for you. Asshole.

Helen H says:

I for one will miss CincyNation. Thanks Rick for all the great years.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

Josh says:
